Research Interests

Since August of 2006, I have been a member of the NGNS research group at UC Davis under the guidance of Professor S. J. Ben Yoo. I am part of the Systems subgroup and my personal focus is on optical arbitrary waveform generation (OAWG). Specifically, I am looking into using OAWG methodology to create a THz bandwidth optical transmitter. This OAWG based transmitter is capable of transmitting data in any modulation format, providing chromatic dispersion precompensation, and is bandwidth scalable without increasing required electrical bandwidth. Preliminary results of chromatic dispersion precompensation capabilities and high spectral efficiency data modulation using the OAWG based transmitter are presented in the publication list below.

I have also been involved with the optical code division multiple access project (OCDMA).
