Optical Label Switching
Optical label switching (OLS) is one of the enabling technologies for high speed / capacity networks. The optical label is processed by electronics for routing and forwarding functions whereas the optical payload remains in the optical domain. In general, there are four different optical labelling techniques as below:{BR} • Time Domain Header Technique{BR} • Subcarrier Multiplexing (SCM) Header Technique{BR} • Wavelength Multiplexing Header Technique{BR} • Orthogonal Modulation Header Technique{BR}
